Online Teaching Institute (OTI)

ARC's OTI helps to prepare instructors for teaching online through exploration and hands-on demonstrations of effective practices in online instruction. The OTI is a nine-week, fully online course that is offered during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Upon completion of the OTI, faculty qualify for 3 units of salary advancement credit.

The Online Teaching & Learning Academy (OTLA)

SCC's OTLA is an intensive 9-week online course for those interested in designing and facilitating pedagogically sound online or hybrid courses. This series will addresses learning theory pertaining to online learning, accessibility, OEI Rubric alignment and more.

@ONE Online Network of Educators

@ONE provides training and professional development to support the effective use of digital tools and platforms to make California Community Colleges a nationally recognized leader in online teaching and learning. Funding from the California Community College Chancellor's Office ensures that @ONE's offerings are provided for free or a very low cost.

Introductory Courses

Introduction to Teaching with Canvas: This is an introductory course is designed for users new to Canvas.
Duration: 4 weeks

Introduction to Online Teaching & Learning: This is an introductory course designed for users new to teaching online.
Duration: 4 weeks

Intermediate Courses

Certificate in Online Teaching & Design: In this intermediate-level course, you'll explore online learning theory, approaches to online course design, and strategies for supporting student success from within the structure of the four sections of the Online Education Initiative's Course Design Rubric: Course Design, Interaction, Assessment, and Accessibility. This course is comparable to ARC's OTI, CRC's OTI, or SCC's OTLA.
Duration: 12 weeks

Equity & Culturally Responsive Teaching in the Online Learning Environment: This course provides community college instructional faculty with an introduction to Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning (CRTL) pedagogy in the online learning environment.
Duration: 4 weeks

Humanizing Online Teaching & Learning: In this class, you will be immersed in a supportive online learning community as you develop humanized practices for your online course that will lay an inclusive foundation for community building and collaboration.
Duration: 4 weeks
