Faculty
Professional Development Opportunities
We have designed a series of strategically planned professional development opportunities to onboard new faculty. These opportunities highlight the critical role of faculty in the success of our students, as well as develop a talented and dynamic pool of equity-minded community college instructors who mirror the diversity of our student population.
Foundations of Canvas Course Design 1.0
Faculty who choose to accept an assignment in distance education modes of instruction shall demonstrate preparation to teach in these modes by meeting a minimum eligibility requirement.
Foundations 2.0
Instructional faculty have the opportunity to expand their expertise in online teaching by completing Foundations 2.0, which offers advanced training that includes our Online Teaching Institutes/Academy at ARC, CRC, FLC, and SCC, as well as approved @ONE courses.
Faculty Diversity Internship Program
The Faculty Diversity Internship Program is a one-year commitment aimed at recruiting qualified faculty who mirror the racial and ethnic diversity of Los Rios' service area.
Faculty Diversity Mentors
Mentors in the Faculty Diversity Internship Program work closely with faculty interns, helping them gain hands-on college teaching experience.
FastTrack OEI Rubric Academy
The FastTrack OEI Rubric Academy provides Los Rios online faculty with resources and support to align their courses to the CVC-OEI Course Design Rubric. Faculty work at their own pace to align their courses with both faculty mentorship and instructional and accessibility design support provided.
New Faculty Welcome and Reception
New Faculty Welcome is an annual orientation and training event for new tenure-track faculty that includes question and answer panels with students and veteran faculty. It is followed by a reception that introduces new faculty hires to administrators, leaders, and board members.
